The Fulham SunHorse brand of Germicidal Ultraviolet (UV) ballasts has been in existence for more than two decades, making Fulham an expert in this once niche category for power supplies that optimize the performance of UV lamps (light bulbs) in applications that include water sterilization, air purification, and surface disinfection. This long-standing Fulham program of speciality germicidal ultraviolet ballasts has been further developed during the pandemic as a Fulham Essential area, based on the increased demand by Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to create innovative new luminaires to help manage the COVID-19 problem. Fulham SunHorse ballasts have also been used in both dimmable and non-dimming models to optimize and increase longevity of Ultraviolet (UV) lamps used in tanning beds. Although this is no longer the primary use of SunHorse ballasts compared with the Essential Germicidal UV application, it demonstrates the versatility of Fulham’s products for multiple purposes. These ballasts operate quietly and can extend lamp life and reduce maintenance compared with other legacy technologies used for powering UV lamps.
